Coming home from a show yesterday, I believe I blew the fuse for my turn signals. My trailer brakes weren't working when I pulled out of the show grounds, lights were on but no brakes, so I stopped and unplugged, blew out the plug (I've had dust get in there at windy shows and done this before) and re-plugged in and we were good to go. But then had no turn signals. I had the hazard flashers on while stopped and in reading the owners manual (2003 F350) the fuse for the turn signals is the same as for the brake connector so I wonder if I blew the fuse when I unplugged and plugged the trailer back in with the flashers going. But I did have trailer lights and brakes so I'm not sure that's it. Anyone experienced anything similar and any suggestions to troubleshoot? I will now carry extra fuses, my bad for not being prepared.....

I know on my 2003 F350 the fuse panel is under the steering wheel and the turn signal fuse is #18. Odd you would lose only one side of turn signals, that doesn't sound like a fuse.

Another thing you can try, is apply dielectric grease to the pins in the socket, insert the plug and remove it several times. This will help clean corroded contacts and provide more reliable lighting operation.

Well the turn signal thing turned out to be something really simple. I finally got the trailer parked and unhooked and the truck back in the garage where we could mess with it out of the weather. No fuses were bad. But turning the flashers on and then off apparently reset something because the turn signals now work again. I wonder if I didn't get the flashers stuck in some midway position which negated the turn signals and made the signal going to the trailer all wonky. In any case, everything now works again. I will be getting some extra fuses to carry with me and will coat the trailer plug with dielectric grease just for good preventative maintenance.
