Most likely the camshaft position sensor going bad. They had a recall for this part, I would take your VIN to a dealer and see if it applies. If not, it's an easy fix to do yourself.

Need more details...... Does is run smooth until you get stopped and act as if you turn the key off or does it run rough then die? What about while driving? There is a number of things that could do this with the cam sensor being 1 of them. There is also 2 other main sensors, 1 being for fuel and 1 for oil pressure. If the truck is not running as good as it was before the problem it could be the electric lift pump on the driverside frame rail.

My 02 Excursion with 7.3 stalled on me twice while driving. It was the Cam sensor and it was covered by recall. Only took a few minutes. Funnily enough for a while after I got better gas mileage.
