All this talk about the new diesels, fuel milage, horse power, torque etc, it's just a waste of time. The trucks are dinky, only carry a few people and still struggle while pulling long trailers.
There are available, some truly powerful diesels that can pull a 60' lQ with seven slide outs and while carrying umpteen horses. With only a few tools and a bit of ingenuity, any back yard hacker can do a quick swap. It just takes a little imagination, and the desire to have the biggest, baddest truck on the block. This could well be the largest example of bling ever noted in the truck universe; all of the "King what evers" can move over and bow down in submission.
800 pound feet of torque, 400 horse power, is this the best the auto makers can do? The way consumers are growing in their yearly demands, next year's Sears mid range mowers will be obliged to have that kind of power. We need bigger and better motors, that can pull anything, anywhere you need to go. We don't need these current wimpy excuses for EPA attacks, with their insatiable appetite for additives. Corn fed? Hardly. These new motors thrive on heavy crude, real dinosaur fossils, the more the better. Catalytic converters? There isn't enough platnum in the world to tame these beasts.
Some further examination will reveal, any attempt that is made in the way of an engine transplant, will result in some basic modifications that will have to be effected to your F-150 or Tundra; namely tires. They're a little larger than your present trailer tires, and you'll need a couple dozen;
One other modification that might be necessary if you want to leave the end of your driveway, would be the installation of a larger fuel tank. A couple of extra quarts capacity should do the trick.
Leave it to Japan to build what we need. At least for once it's not Chinese.

Gard, YOU ROCK!!! I hope my husband doesn't get tech savvy and look at that. He will find a way to put one together, then build a bigger LQ out of two semi-trailers welded together...then, he will add a turf "backyard", and an outdoor hot tub! (and it all started with a small weekender) thanks for your humor.

"The Wartsila-Sulzer RTA96-C turbocharged two-stroke diesel engine is the most powerful and most efficient prime-mover in the world today. The Aioi Works of Japan 's Diesel United, Ltd built the first engines and is where some of these pictures were taken."
