When I pulled the trailer mats out and washed the trailer, I noticed that the weld between the walls and floor is not continuous - that is - there are welds running down the length of the trailer, but it's not continuous. Is this normal, or should I be contacting the trailer company to have more welding done?

Thank you.

Skip welding is very common. It really prevents warping due to thermal load being generated in a continuous bead.

Is there any specification on how far apart the welds should be and how long each welded area should be? Thanks!

Maybe a 3" weld with somewhere between a 3"-6" skip...depends on what the builder wanted though.

The amount of welds should approximate the strength of the material being used. Fabricators usually use prints and standards established by engineers. In auto body repairs, the welds are usually finished off and ground smooth for panel repairs.
