After much reasearch here on DIY living quarters from Todd's webpage to Richard's PowerPoint, I bit the bullet and spent the crappy winter inside my trailer. Won't do into all the details because I basically followed everyone's advice on insultation, wiring, plumbing, etc. Some things I did different. My ceiling is done in vinyl soffit material. Except for the longest part of my ceiling, it came in pieces long enought to not have to splice. Wall paneling is the light weight T&G pine planks from Lowe's. All RV trailer parts came from Colaw's in Joplin MO. They sourced the converter, DC lights, sink, water tank, power inlets, and most importantly the best price on a low-profile Carrier RV A/C. So let's see if I can add the pics. Thanks to all for their help and inspiration. This is the very first project of this kind for me.Barry

I used Minwax Golden Oak stain. 2 coats. Then the minwax polyurethene satin finish. On the T&G pine. I used crown staples to hold the boards to the horizontal 1x2s I attached the the steel ribs. I started using a brad nailer but found the boards pulled off easily. Was worried that they would pop loose as the trailer torqued and twisted while towing. The staples kinda show and go well with the rustic look we wanted. If you want a more finished look you might want to consider something else.

It looks really good; you should be proud of yourself! I have a pretty good idea of how much work is involved since my husband and I are 3/4 done our little weekend package, too, and the hours are really adding up. We cheated, though, and ordered our cupboards from Totem. No, you can't get the exact sizes for the odd shaped dressing room, but we didn't think we had the time, talent or abilities to do a really nice job on cupboards ourselves.
One strange question, though. Where did you get the material that's on the cute "cow hide" pillows on your bed? I want to cover the cushion on our bootbox with a cowhide pattern material, also make a few throw pillows for the bed with the same material. All I can find is real cowhide, which is VERY expensive and too thick for me to sew, anyhow, or else some cheap looking fuzzy stuff at Wal-Mart.
