Maybe it doesn't matter as much down south, but up here in the north country I would think that this time of year must be pretty good for purchasing a trailer - in terms of getting a good deal. That's my intuition, but I've been wrong enough times before. Anyone have thoughts about that?

In the NE, a slow trailer selling time is after show season and before the first nice weather of Spring. As far as car sales, the slowest is usually after New Year's and through the month of January.
Off season is the slowest sales time, and is usually the best time to buy, as there are pressures and incentives to move the items. The economy will change these times, as more foreclosures and job loses are forceing the sale of personal items.
I've noticed in the private sales of equipment, that there is a difference in the advertised prices and the actual sales pricing. An item being sold in an economically depressed area may not command the same price in a less affected area. In MN the pricing may be higher than in IN or MI, which are depressed at this time.
I've been told by a few trailer sales companies that their businesses are suffering. Our local two RV dealers have gone out of business this summer. Many large dealers are paying a great deal of money in monthly payments, on their unsold inventory.
Dealers are generally less able, to make some of the deals you can get through private sales. I've bought my last two trailers used through private sales at significant savings. There are some deals if you can hook up with repo sales. HTB has done well, but others can't seem to find the right people.
The cost of raw materials is rapidly increasing, so new equipment will be more expensive. Left overs or used are the best deals now.

I'm on the boarder on nd and mt and I bought a trailer from twin cities featherlite. Your very close to them and they are the best to work with. Always getting trailer or will help you find what you are looking for. I think its mary that works thier that helped me but can't remeber.

Looking for a 3H slant, with, ideally, an 8- or 10-ft shortwall, decent LQ with the standard amenities. We really love the 4-Stars. Haven't seen an Elite in person, but I've heard they're great trailers too. If you've got one that matches my criteria, let me know.
I am getting nervous, though, after reading the responses in my other post about too much trailer for my truck... I just bought the thing and it ain't going anywhere.

When you find the exact trailer you're looking and you got the CASH in your pocket to pay for it... Unless they got that ZERO percent financing for 30 years... And I hadn't seen that one yet.

gaiterd- Check out Denny's Trailer Sales in Wykoff, MN.. I was just on his website and he has the Elite that you may be looking for. I don't work for them, but have bought two trailers from him. A new Kiefer last year. Denny, Sean and Joey are great people to work with before and after the sale. Tell them I referred you, can't hurt.

I have a 3 horse 8' shortwall with the same truck and I pull fine. I typically am hauling 1-2 horses and rarely 3. I would think 10' would be pushing it and hauling a full load would also be maybe over what that truck is rated to pull.
