Hi,

I am fairly new into horses and looking into purchasing my first 2H trailer.  I am currently looking at the Trails West Sierra II but unsure if i want to spend this much.  I have found a reasonably priced Circle J Lightning SX Deluxe (6'6" wide x 7'3" tall, 14 ' length).  This is an all aluminum trailer w/ doug furr on the floor (x-members 9"apart).  I have heard that some aluminum trailers are not as well built and tend to damage more easily.  Since the price is reasonable I'm wondering if this is true about the Circle J.  Does anyone have an opinion on circle J aluminum trailers?   What are some top quality trailers?  I am open to steel or aluminum although would ideally like aluminum but very expensive.       Thanx.

You get what you pay for... I would buy a quality all aluminum ( 4 star, Platinum, Eby, Elite, Bloomer, etc.) trailer. It will pay you back if you decide to sell it in ten years or so. I know nothing about a Circle J.

Circle J went out of business which is why you might be getting a deal on that trailer.  If it's a new trailer keep in mind it will not have warranty unless you purchase and extended service agreement.  Another poster recently had the same dilemma comparing trailers.  She had found several reasonably priced brands.  If I can find the post I'll send it to you.

I wouldn't buy a trailswest buy getting an aluminum is a better investment than steel. Because in long run they are worth more if your going to buy one though search for a while just don't run and buy the first one you like.

I have a 2H Circle J and it has been a fabulous trailer.  VERY well made.  It is double walled with insulation and I do like the fiberglass roof for coolness.  Some people fear fiberglass roofs in case of an accident.  Mine is an older trailer but was special made for another couple.  I am in the process of buying another bumper pull that is a 4 Star and will be selling my Circle J but it has certainly been a quality trailer...no complaints.

We have a 4h BP Lightning SX Deluxe for the past 2 years: so far it has been holding up very well. It has been stored outside (although in sunny California) for 2 years and our 4yr Shire is not very gentle (pounding the side and floor a lot). Yes,a featherlite has a little more attention to details and perhaps a few extra upgrades: it just depends what you want and what is your price range. We'll probably hold on to the trailer as long as possible or until we'll need a bigger trailer (since we are slowly moving to draft, draft crosses)

if you buy an extended warranty for other the the manufacturer check with the dealer if there will work with that. ON cars dealer will not work with any thing except the  manufacturer warranty
