My entrance door into the LQ area of my trailer is the original horse trailer door with a flush mount type latch on the outside and a small knob that you pull side ways to open the door from the inside. There is only a small round piece of metal welded on the door frame that the door "catches" on when closed. Is it possible to put a different type of lock on this door to make it a little more secure?

You can install a surface mount, dead bolt latch on the inside of the door. They are available keyed on both the inside and out, or with a key on the outside and an operating knob on the inside.
The bolts have a long throw and when slid into the frame mounted socket, can provide a strong, secure fastening.
