We was looking at new trailers, but with the rising interest rate we changed our direction and found something we could maybe pay cash for.

I found the trailer I have listed below and need to know what to look for as for as what I am going to need to be replacing or having to repair!  I have gone over the outside, top to bottom, front to rear and even checked the roof. (no hail)

2002 EXISS XT308/MT, 8'sw 3' midtack, 3 horse with a Sierra interior package.  Outside of the trailer seems to be soild, no dents or scratches, needs to be acid washed.  But the inside is really cheap looking (I guess we have looked at too many Outlaw Packages that last few months) has mobile home type wall board on the walls and ceiling.

Can this interior be updated without having to tear everything out?  Maybe soft touch walls or half wood and soft touch!  I am not too worried about the bath walls or ceiling.  Looks like it does have real wood doors and trim.  No mangers, no generator.

Any input or thoughts would help.

You would not believe the junk we have looked at.  We call about a trailer drive an hour or so to see it and they tell you it has not been used hardly any at all, but when you get there to see it, OMG, do these people not know what a pooper scooper is?!  I found out that means that it has not been cleaned, maintained or taken care of at all! 

Most have been at dealerships with trim hanging off, decals pulled off and sticky grap left on the trailer and some of them not even cleaned up and priced close to what new ones are priced. 

 That is why I started looking at cheap stuff, if I am going to have to spend some money I thought it might be better to have a trailer under 20-k vs. a trailer that is almost 50-k.   My thinking is maybe in 2 years the trailer that was 20-k and need some fixing up still might be worth 20-k after the upgrades, but the 50-k trailer that needs some work is only going to be worth 40-k maybe!

Hey there... We have re-covered walls and ceilings on several trailers to give them an updated look. It's not that bad and shouldn't be that costly. You can update a trailer a little at a time and end up with a really nice trailer.

If you look on The Sierra web site, you will see that they produce interiors of various grades, from basic to lavish and in between. The interior appointments will differ, but fortunately the quality of the installation and components doesn't. It's not unreasonable to consider refacing the cabinets and adding additional appointments, as you would a household kitchen remodeling. Fortunately in an eight foot LQ, there's far less work to consider.

If you look at the want adds, you will find many used trailers with a 8' LQ in the mid to high twentys. To find and Exiss, particularly an Event model with a mid tack in that price range is fortunate. If it is in good shape and you are willing to impart some sweat equity in an effort to save some money, it might be a wise candidate. The Event models are a good quality trailer and they have a good reputation. You might have found a gem in the rough.

You are right about the 8'W w/mangers.Lots of those are also 7'6" tall,and I can tell you from personal experience that was worth several thousand $ to us in a trade off of a nearly new Platinum for the Exiss that we now have.The difference is all in your comfort and space and when it came to getting in and out of the bunk in the GN,the extra was definately worth it.Also,I wouldn't consider a LQ that doesn't have mangers,but,that is just a personal preference.We have had Outlaw interior and now have a Sierra,and the Sierra is every bit as nice as the Outlaw interior was.But there are different classes of interiors within a company.

I have seen some nice Exiss trailer, but down here after ordering upgraded interior (soft touch walls) drops on the rump side, the prices are way more than what we have been priced on 4-star, Platinum and even Bloomer!  That is what I am not understanding.  Back in 2000 we bought a new Exxis and it was loaded and way cheaper than the other guys now it is the other way around.

All of the Exiss and Sooner used trailers I have found all have the wall board interior.

That what I have been told, less trailer, more money!  Back in 2000 it sure seemed like I got alot of trailer for the money.  It was a SS413 Loaded and we was into it for around 45-k and the others guys same type trailer was still around 70-k!

Now the same type Exiss in a SS412 or SS414 loaded I have been priced anywhere from 68-k to over 80-k!  And the other guys now are just above 60-k with more stuff!

We looked at a BEAUTIFUL Exiss Event LQ at the World Foxtrotting Show at Ava,MO that was held Labor Day week.It was loaded out and had one of the most beautiful interiors I'd ever seen,and it was priced at $62,000.If I'd been in the market for a new one,I would have jumped at it.

We saw a beautiful Twister with a nice interior,not quiet the one in the Exiss,but,NICE,at Republic,MO and it was priced in the 60's.

Well if I were you,I'd get either the Platinum or the 4 Star and be done with it,and stop wondering about  the Exiss price.
