Ok Bouys and Gulls.....
Our trail club is going to ride at Red Rock State park here in Calif. This place is so full of history and of course lots of weird shapes and colors in the sandstone. I see and hear of all of the folks who have horse camps and lovely horse resorts that I get a bit jealous until I see this kind of scenery. Sunday the 27th we will be riding out from "Red Cliffs" parking lot, if any fellow So. Calif riders want to join in. About 10 a.m. and put your seat in the saddle!

The desert holds it's own beauty. Not a place you want to be on the 4th of July at 105*, But I love riding the slick rock in the spring when the other mountains aer still covered in snow.

I was just talking to my husband the other day about places I want to ride here in the few years. Told him Bodie, as I would love to ride to the visiting ghost towns near it such as Auroa and others. He goes, "You are nuts, who'd wanna ride in the desert!?" Well, I guess that would be me, I love the hight deserts of Nevada as well as their Ghost Towns..................
Aren't there any down near you there Sis? How far are you from the Nevada boarder......?

I think I did my first NATRC ride at Pioneer Town. That must have been more than 25 yrs ago! Where did the time go? It was really beautiful back then and I've always wanted to go back and explore some more. Thanks for sharing!

Hey C P!
Been ocupied with shuttle stuff and not on the boards for a few days.
We're not very close to the border, but about 35 miles east-north-east of Los Angeles. "Crazy Trail Rider" is about 2 1/2 hrs west of us at the coast. And yes, there are some ghost towns down this way, but pretty tore up by the creeps on the dirt bikes who burn the wood for camps. In fact the El Paso Mtns have a couple of places left which can be visited, but you are better off going to the Death Valley, and Panamint Mtns to find anything much to view. I have always thought that Bodie, or up by Fallan Hot Springs would be a great spot to explore as would Cerro Gordo and the Inyo Mtns up to Burgess mine and the tramway buckets. There are still some foundations and head frames around Red Mountain, and Randsburg, as well as Goler Gulch and that area. I understand the Mojave Road has some neat spots like the Rockhouse Spring, Piute Springs, or Fort Mojave. The largest ghost towns still standing have been made into tourist stops like Calico and Oatman near Colorado River and Needles CA.
