I have a 98 Sundowner Valuelite 2 horse GN. The trailer wire that plugs into the truck was severed and spliced by the previous owner. I would like to replace it but need to know what guage wire to buy? Thanks

Sundowner uses a 6 conductor 14 gauge cable.

Their wiring code is:

Brown......Marker & tail light

Red.........Brake

Blue.........Aux lights

Green.......Right Turn signal

Yellow......Left Turn signal

Black........Ground

Champion Trailer Parts Supply sells pre-made 6 wire whips with the trailer end plug mounted and 8 feet of 6 wire cable.

Hosspuller,

Where did you get this from? It does not match anything I can find.

Yours says red is for the brakes. I have a red and I don't see that on any diagrams. you don't show power on your diagram. Isn't the center post 12V? I think it is the blue wire.

It should be 14 ga. wire, but the color code varies with different mfg. Our Hawk uses blue for brakes, but the red wire is used for the left turn signal.

I would suggest contacting Sundowner, or get out the battery charger and see what lights up when you connect the wires.

Hosspuller, thanks. Now that you say the blue or AUX is for 12V I think that yours matches mine. I'll try it out tonight.

Thanks
