Hello:

Here in the south, we have a wasp-like insect that gets in crevisses and build mud tubes.  They can gum up boat motors and the like.  This is the first summer for our LQ trailer, and I am concerned about how to mud-dauber proof the trailer when it is parked.  Has anyone here had problems, experiences with muddaubers and their dirt constructions in and on their LQ trailers?

Karen

Haven't had a problem with my trailer, but I have to walk around my house at least twice a month checking under the eves for their tubes.  Wasp spray works well.  I crush the tube with a broom as there usually above head level, then have the spray can ready to douse them.  We also get them in the barn from time to time.

They can cause some real issues when they get inside your water heater, refrigerator, & furnace. Look at RV'ers and they buy special screens for their appliances which keeps the bugs out. Not very expensive, but saves a lot of hard cleaning. Most any RV or LQ shop sells the screens.

I have gotten them under the neck of my trailer but so far no problems. Think I will look into those screens because I do worry about them getting in where they don't belong and casusing a problem.

I live in the middle of nowhere, over 1 hour from the nearest RV dealer.  Can you suggest a good RV catalog company or reputable online RV supply company that may have these screens and other items for maintaining the LQ portion of our trailer?

No prblems in the trailer yet, but I think my barn would probably fall down if I removed all the mud nest that appear to be holding it together.

They dont bother me as much as the Yellow Jackets

I've had them clog the holes in my trailer plug. I had a time getting it cleared out. They've even plugged the electrial outlets in my barn - the hole where the grounding plug is inserted. I have to put baby outlet plugs on all of my recepticles. What a nuisance.

We have them up here.  I agree, what a pain.  None that I have found in my trailer, but I am sure there will be a day.  I agree, the plugs in the barn are a pain in the you know what.  Our old barn had them.  The mudd that keeps the walls up.. HA HA - that was a good one.  I agree!

I hate the fact they look like wasps and it is hard to tell them apart.  Between them and wood wasps (look like yellow jackets), I am not a fan of flying nasty bugs!.. Or even crawling ones for that matter!
