This is all I've got, that it has to do with the angle from the attachment point up to the axle itself: http://www.oscn.net/dockets/GetCaseInformation.aspx?db=pushmataha&c...

In reference to what? Are you replacing axles on a trailer?

My 1st message did not appear, but I was referring to the Equipment list on my new trailer. It listed 22 degree up axle with my exterior Equipment list, and I was wondering if anyone knew the significance of this option. I did a search on sight with no results.

When we ordered our trailer the options were 22 degree up, 0 degree, 22 degree down. Pretty sure 22 up was standard trailer height, 0 raised the trailer 2 inches, and 22 down raised it 4 inches. It could be the other way around.
We ordered ours 0 degree to help level trailer due to truck bed height. Our friends ordered theirs 22 down but were advised to get ramp on it because of height for horse loading. Our horses have been fine loading with the 0 degree without ramp.
So you should check with your dealer on which will work best for you.If you have a newer truck I would advise at least 0 degree because (for some unknown reason) the truck manufacturers think we need beds to high to be practical.

This applies only to torsion axels. Instead of metal leaf springs, the wheel is mounted on a lever that rotates around the axel.(hence torsion term) The rotation of the lever is resisted by rubber elements in the axel. The rubber provides the spring and shock absorber. The lever starting position is specified as either 22 degrees up OR down. Up lowers the trailer floor to the ground, "Down" increases the ground clearance. This is not changed without changing the whole axle.
