I purchased a 4 horse with living quarters. Aprox 30' in legenth. Went to get it titled and tags yesterday. Can't do farm tags any more. Lady at the window figured it up, after sales tax, tags were to be almost $200 a year. Is this what every one else is paying for horse trailers with living quarters? Needless to say, sticker shock!

We have permanent tags on all of our trailers...3h GN nonLQ, 3hLQ and a flatbed...we paid a one-time fee on each based on weight. non-LQ was a transfer fee of $14, LQ was $14 and flatbed was paid when we bought it new.

My tags for my 3H, 8.9sw LQ are about $160 in Texas. I was pretty disappointed also that I could not get farm tags. I pay less for the tags on my truck, which does not make a lot of sense to me.

In Michigan our trailers have permenent tags.If your trailer is less then 2500# it's $75.00 as your trailer only has a registration.Over 2500# it's a one time fee of $125 and you have a title too.

From everything I could research, the Farm bill is the reason for the huge tax hike. Talked to several ladies, plus a dealer in the area, they have regular plates, and their tag cost went up, also. At least I know incompetence, at the tag office, wasn't the case in this instance.
