Well, I turned too sharp and hit a street sign with my awning. Ripped about a 5 inch tear in my rolled up awning. I am sick about it. What is the best way to repair it? Thanks so much. dweber2000, medicinehatgirl on bhw.

I can't tell you how to repair your awning but I can tell you a story to make you feel better!
Saturday morning my fiance' took our 8 month old Hart to the lumber yard to pick up wood and came back needing a new fender and tire! The shipping on the fender is costing more than the actual fender. I can tell he feels really bad about it, but part of me is so relieved I didn't do it!
The point is that we all have accidents. As long as we're all still here, physical property can be repaired or replaced! Hang in there, it could be worse!

Thanks and you are so right! :) I should know better than to take short cuts through small little towns, though. Should have driven straight through...sigh.

I have a friend who bought a brand new Harley this summer. Before leaving the dealeres lot, he took the key and put a scratch on the fender. Said now he didn't have to worry about it.

Don't worry, you are not stupid... its just an ooops! anyway, check your RV supply for some clear awning repair tape. Put it on top and bottom side. It works. We got a slight tear on ours last year in 80 mph winds while I was hanging on in mid air trying to roll it in!!!! ( I really don't like to fly much).
