I have a 2004 Exiss 4 horse trailer that we bought new.  While cleaning it I noticed 1 of the catches that hold the doors closed, the part bolted to the trailer body, was broke, this set me to looking and of the 6 door latches 4 were broken in the same spot.  Wondering if anyone else is having this issue and also advising you to look closely at this component, the cracks were old but I had not noticed them before the part actually came in two.

Have you contacted Exiss at Universal? They've been very good about providing replacement parts under warranties, and even entire window assemblies past the warranty periods.

Are you referring to the striker plates mounted onto the door framework, into which the latch protrudes?

We have a 95 Sooner that has one huge back door. The lowest latch has a crack in it.Hard to get a replacement because Sooner is now part of Exiss.I'd call Exiss right away.Make some pictures, too. They must have put too much pressure or torque when they were installing them, heck, who knows how THAT happened?

The trailer is well out of warranty.  I was really just giving a heads up and wondering if it was just me.  I will attach a picture of the broken latch.

The pics are of the "lug" that is mounted on the trailer itself that the cam latch catches to lock the horse doors. They are a straight cast aluminum piece and are a bit brittle. We have replaced several over the years on many brands of trailers. One note- what the pic shows a part of what is known as "anti-rack" hardware. Basically, the foot that is located on the door has two fingers that grab both sides of the lug. This allows the hardware to actually reduce trailer flex as it is travelling in rough terrain. You can see this vividly when you follow an 18 wheeler down the interstate and you'll see the box shift left or right- until the door hardware reaches its limit. The horse trailer version is a smaller scale- but same principle. The cracks on these can be from a number of causes, but I wouldn't be particularly concerned about it, just replace them as soon as practical.

The trailer is well out of warranty.

Exiss's warranty is seven years. Not too long ago a second owner of an eight year old trailer had drop down window problems, At that time, Exiss was purchasing the windows from a supplier. When the owner finally contacted the company, they replaced the windows with new units.

It will only take a couple of minutes to call and find out.

We are a dealer in southern California that sells lots of brands of trailers. We call this a "dogbone" latch. We have them in stock, since most of our aluminum manufacturers use these for their cam latches. If you need to order directly from us, our toll-free number is 888-809-8887. You can probably find them at your local trailer dealership, too.

exiss must have just changed their warranty, because on moving parts including drop downs, it was 3 years on the event and 1 on the sport

I stand corrected. I guess it depends on if it is a manufactured part or structure.

I do know they replaced eight year old windows
