I was in a hurry yesterday and forgot to pull the cord while lifting the trailer off the truck. When I tried to get it to lower, it would only go up. My husband came home and got it off the truck, had to let it bleed down (not sure on that one). A friend of mine had the same thing happened and told me when they plugged it in it would work. So we plugged ours in, let it sit over night, and it's still only going up. Any ideas of what to do?

Could be that the battery is low that runs it. When mine is low, it will only go up. It oculd also be the directional valve too. What brand jack is it?

It's an Equalizer brand. Wouldn't it be charged if it's been plugged into the house all night? Also, Wednesday night I drove almost 2 hours, so I would have thought that would have charged it as well???

Equalizer uses a solenoid to change fluid travel direction on some units. With low voltage, there isn't enough power to run the pump and hold the solenoid, and the pump runs first. So only 1 direction. In your case, I am suspecting a battery charge problem. Correct it, and the jack will likely act properly.

I'm having the same problem. My Equalizer trailer jack will only go up so I can't get it off the truck. The batteries are charged and the trailer is plugged in to an electrical socket. I also can't get the manual jack to work. Suggestions?

The batteries are absolutely fully charged. Today I had someone look at the jack. Everything is properly grounded. The jack still only retracts. We did discover that if you push in the button for the manual jack, then the hydraulic jack will extend. At least I can now get it off the truck when I need to. Guess I'll have to get it in the shop to find out what the problem is. Its not the battery ... its not the ground.

Are you talking the red knob? It should be in the in position of regular operation. It should only be out to retract the leg when using the manual side of the jack.
