Hi,
I've been looking at these too (also got my Adam this summer!) and what I've seen is that the shipping can run almost as much as the tank, all depending. If you're not in a hurry, horse.com fairly often offers a few days of free shipping even for the heavy freight items. These are oversize and incur a $5 fee but that I can handle. LOL If you sign up for their email news, you'll get notified and the emails are not toooo annoying in frequency

thanks for the replies.
the best place i've found so far is horsetaileraccessorystore.com. no one seems to have the exact size i'm thinking i need so i'm going to go with one a bit bigger (48 gallon half moon) and just not fill it all the way every time. no need to haul an extra 100 pounds of water.
unless someone tells me i'm thinking all wrong. i'm NEW at all this so i might be. ;)

We bought the 45 gal half moon tank that slips along side of the gn in the bed of the truck from horse.com @ 8lbs per gal we only use the extra 360lbs when we need to. It empties pretty well from gravity. I put a short 2x4 under the end closest to the cab to aid in the draining. If need be I could get a second and have 90 gallons and an extra 720 lbs in the bed. But we do not call for that much spare water. Not so far any how.

Hello Darlyn, High Country Plastics makes several sizes of water tanks (25-48 gal) to use either in the tack room, hay rack, or as another poster said, in the pickup bed. Even though my local TSC type store does not stock the tanks, they do stock other High Country plastic items and the were willing to order my tank when they placed one of their regular orders. They gave me their catalogue to look through so that I could pick out the tank that best suited my needs. I purchased the half moon and installed it lengthwise on my hay rack . One caution: In addition to the hay rack tank, I also haul water with a 325 gallon tank in the back of a pickup truck dedicated to this purpose. From experience, I will not haul with a partially filled tank. I fill my tanks completely full, and in the case of the horse trailer hay rack tank, if I did not use all of the water, I would not drive home with a half tank of water with a lentghwise horizontal tank. I would empty it prior to driving home. The effect would not be nearly as severe as with the 325 gallon tank, but knowing what happens with the 325 caused me to be cautious with even the 48 gallon. Perhaps too cautious?? Hello other posters? Do you have any problems driving with half full lengthwise mounted horizontal water tanks in your hay racks?
