Hi. I'm new to this forum but have read all the advice given. I've been looking for a long time to find a LQ trailer and have finally found one within my price range with all the things I would like to have. This will be my first trailer. It's a all aluminum, 3H Sundowner 1999 Siesta 8008. In almost new condition. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this trailer. It seems like everytime a nice one comes up, its gone quickly. Thanks in advance for the wisdom. Blake

If you have found the trailer you've been looking for, at the price you're willing to pay, buy it. Check all the accessories for proper operation, each door, window, awning and vent. Try to obtain all of the LQ accessories' operating manuals. Check the tires for age and wear. Have the owner show you how each feature works, and ask questions until you know all the answers.
The all aluminum Sundowners seem to have a good reputation and loyal following, as opposed to the steel framed, aluminum skinned variants.

We have an all aluminum 1999 Sundowner Sierra 8012. We love it. Bought it a year and a half ago. Haven't had one issue. KNOCK ON WOOD!! Seriously, it's everything we wanted and more.

Thank you so much for the reply. I really like the layout and large window in the LQ. The one I found has all I hoped for in the horse comp. plus! It's good to know the possitive feedback as I'm writting the check today. My first, and last, LQ trailer.

Geeze... I would have never thought to reseal the roof. What do you seal it with? Thank you all for the things I wouldn't have thought of. Getting excited to get my trailer.

dicor makes a product called: EPDM rubber roof system self-leveling lap sealant.
Elixir makes a product called: Plas-t-cote
DYCO 20/20 is OK
There are others. All can be purchased at any RV supply store. You can also get a product called Through the Roof at your local Ace hardware. I would buy at least a gallon for the job. Just apply with a paint brush very thick.
There are many products to use. Your local trailer dealer should also do roof re-seals. What ever you use it needs to be a product that stays pliable like rubber so that it will not crack with movement.
