Ok, I have a 16.3h TB that definitly needs a 7'tall trailer.  I currently have a 2 horse slant I just recently bought used, however, he is way to long to even fit in the slant.  I know he fits in slant's as I've had him in some other trailers.  But I'm wondering if anyone has an ideas of what I should be looking for.  Are there trailers out there specifically for TB or oversized horses?  If so where should I look.  I've had a stock trailer and although he fits well in those, he is not very sturdy, he really is one of those horses that likes the slant.  Any ideas for trailers would be great, what brands to look for.  I'm looking for a bumper pull for sure!  Thanks!

Featherlite has a series of slant loads specifically designed for bigger horses like the one you have, you may want to check there.  Also, if you are only hauling one horse, you may want to take out the divider to give your horse more room in your current trailer.

Hi there,

It was either Sooner or Featherlite that actually make a TB model. and that's actually what it's called is the "Thoroughbred model" Extra tall and long. It's a sraight-load though. If those two do not fit your budget and you need something more affordable, Exiss makes a nice big trailer for a great price.

A friend of mine has large horses and she has a Sundownert 3 horse slant load.  I think lots of trailer manufacturers offer "warmblood" size trailers for a bit more money;  they're taller and longer, something like 7'6" high and 7'6" or 8' wide.

I second the suggestion about looking at 7'6" trailers as 7' will be a bit low for your horse.  There are several brands that make these, check the ads.  4 Star, Sundowner, Keifer, etc.

Featherlite has "Big Horse" models in both straight and slant loads. The straight load "Thoroughbred" has longer stalls (89" chest to butt bar) and is 7'6" tall, 6'7" wide. The slant load model is 7'6" wide, 7'6" inside height, with 50" wide stalls. There is more angle on the slant wall, also, which gives more head to butt room. It gives a full 142" diagonal length.

We just bought a featherlite trailer and love it!  We have racehorses and our tallest Tb is a fraction shy of 17 hands!  He fits in great.  Easiest trailer to load in.  Check out http://www.leonardtrailers.com  they have a great variety and will give you a great price.  They also do shipping if you need it to be shipped to you.

Do you race or are you into showing?

Most manufacturers have 7ft 6in headroom trailers.
You need LENGTH as well as height, so could still have problems if the width and slant angle don't work out to give you enough stall length.
This is all part of the problem with slant load trailers, but we've been THERE before - many times.
