Is there some type of grounding problem if I use the generator in the back of the truck vs. taking it out and using it?

There must be.  I have amn open ground I think it is when I use it in the bed.  Plug into one on the ground-no problem.

There shouldn't be an issue with using it in the bed of the truck.

Oh ! Please be careful, use a generator in the bed of the truck will allow exhaust fumes to rise up into the QN where people might be sleeping, please don't do this.34

Portable generators are self contained units and do not need an external ground connection to work. The ground in the plug is all that is necessary.

I use a Yamaha EF3000iseB in the bed of the truck with and without the trailer being attached, no extra ground wires, cables or ground rods.... Never had any trouble operating the trailer.

Acy, What kind of generator will you be using..? Be sure and try to keep the exhaust pointed down wind away from the LQ. For me it's easier to unhook the trailer and reposition the truck than to unload the generator to keep it down wind.
