Could you give a little more info on the good & bad of Mingsville.  We were thinking about going there in May for the first time.

We went to Mingsville in April of 2006. Was not impressed with it at all. Campground was clean and stalls were okay. Staff was friendly, but not very many trails and a lot of them have been de-forested, so lots of broken limbs and stumps. Some of the trails you had to get off an open a gait and then close it becuase of cattle in the field. Lots of broken down machinary near the trail too. It is a good place for those that only want an hour or so ride and then back to the camp for adult beverages and a dip in the pool. Not a place for long scenic trail rides. We also were riding QHs at the time and did the entire trail system in 1 and a half days. You could see it all in one day on a gaited horse.

I would look other places to go in Missouri near there... Big Creek Trail Rides, Golden Hills, Whispering Pines, or Brushy Creek. All these places are good family desintations. If you are looking for a pool etc. for the kids, I think Golden Hills still has pool in operation during the summer months. Big Creek has a very nice creek to take a dip in and also fish. And is just minutes from the Current River for a float trip too.
