NO, not normal. You say your pin is 6" in front of rear axle, and you are running air bags? Ya got enough truck? Next time you are out bucking around, roll that combo over a set of (cat scales). That may answer your question. Sounds more like those air bags and front torsion bars on your truck along with excessive pin weight is bringing on the bucking. How big of a trailer you dragging around? I give up, mine don't buck.

A GN trailer should feel like it's part of the truck.

bob42 Is it a regular cab, ext. cab, crew cab, long bed, short bed, 4X4, auto or manual etc. If it only dropped it 2- 1/2" then why the bags? Still sounds like alot of trailer for a 3/4 ton 2500 truck, LQ with holding tanks, 3 horse, 10' short wall. How long are you on floor length, what make is the trailer, trailer axle location in relation to rear of trailer? Tells us more. Others will be along with some good tips and you may find your answer. I don't know anything, I pull with a 2001 Chevrolet ext. cab  4X4 3500 dually 8.1/Allison "GASSER" My trailer is a 2033MA Silver Star Supreme, trailer ready to go to the show weighs around 10,500#, 25' on the floor, 33' total length. My pin is set dead center of the rear axle and "NO BAGS", and no bucking. How much air pressure you running in the air bags? Does it buck with them deflated? Just throwing some things at you!

Do you have a two piece drive shaft? The early 2001 and 2002's had issues with the two piece shaft on certain wheelbase trucks. Go to the "Diesel Place" on the internet and look around over there also. It's not the Allison down shift that you are feeling is it? I believe it's the truck suspension/drive line........I'm guessing.

Just another data point.
I have an '03 1 ton duramax/allison chassis/cab with Hillsboro aluminum platform body, the hitch an integral part of the platform. I haul a 30ft on the floor 4-star head to head, about 39ft overall. The only "bucking" I've had has been if I've backed off the power just as it was shifting, or about to shift. My trailer just has a 6ft tack room, no camper section.
I added air springs early this year, I can't say I've noticed any more or any less bucking since, but maybe I learned to drive in ways that avoid promoting it (-:
