I looked at a buddies featherlite w/slideout this weekend and it looked great. I've looked at a CM and they look great too.
So here is the problem. I really want a model that has bunkbeds in it for kids. I'm looking at the Trials West. I love that it is steel but hate the fact that it is 7' wide. I really think I want an 8' trailer w/slideout. Me and my wife spend a ton of time in the trialer and I really think the space is worth it. The problem with steel is that if the trailer is 8' wide it will be 15K lbs. It seems like the more I look into trailers the more confused I become.
I've had a hard time finding the weights of trailers online and floor plans w/ bunkbeds.

I agree that 8' wide is the only way to go especially if you have kids. I am pretty sure there are some nice slide outs with bunk beds on some of the trailer places listed here. Like Dixie Horse & Mule.

Choose wisely! Not all sliders are the same. Not all trailers are the same. You should only get an 8'. You just won't be satisfied with andything less, even a 7'6". It's amazing how much that "little" extra space can mean for comfort and storage. Any good LQ conversion co. and do one with bunk beds but you will have a fairly hefty trailer because of the slider and LQ. Lq weights can vary tremendously. Also, if you order a trailer, make sure they put the axles in the right spot for the LQ weight and overall length. Hope you have the right tow vehicle!!

I can appreciate your problems. I help people with the same thing that you are going through every day!! You are not alone. Take a look at www.jnjconversions.com, we have many different floorplans with bunks! You don't have to buy an 8' wide trailer with a slideout, if you don't want one just to get bunk beds in, and still have all of your floor space!! Take a look, and if you have any questions give me a call. I hope that I can be of more help!!!

There is actually not as much weight difference between steel and aluminum as most people think. Reason being is that you have to put so much more aluminum in the trailer to make it stand up to stress like steel does. Have you looked at Bison Trailers. They have a Bunk bed pkg LQ in there Stratus Series that has a slide out that is very affordable. I sold one last year for about 54K. However, that trailer will weigh approximately 13k.
