So i have a honda eu3000is generator that fits perfect in my rear tack,previous owner of our trailer has all ready added 30amp power to the rear tack so I can use power from there or the side for shore power, I realize I need to vent this rear tack for heat and so forth, I plan on leaving the rear door window open but was curious if it would be wise to install a 12v exhaust fan in the roof or possible the side into the horse compartment, there won't be any horses in there while running so not a concern.http://www.etrailer.com/Enclosed-Trailer-Parts/Ventline/VP-543SP.html

I would not suggest running it in the trailer at all even with an exhaust fan. My fear would be if the fan quits working and the carbon monoxide fumes get into the living compartment.

I fail to see how they could,it's a 40ft long trailer and the tack rooms at the very back. To me it would seem safer than under the kitchen window, and or under the bed room. I know all the stories about the gas and fumes but looking for facts, it would be no differnt to me in my eyes then running a exhaust pipe through the floor and out the side.

Spoken like a future potential victim...:( And yes, under your bedroom or kitchen window are NOT great choices either...you want your generator out in the open with a VERY GOOD EXHAUST SYSTEM...because CO is deadly...

Never a good idea to run a motor in an inclosed space without a ducted exhaust system. Even with a fan, the resulting atmosphere will not be diluted enough to prevent injuries. Hundreds of people die each year from CO poisoning, don't include yours to that list.

I had same questions as in the previous discussions. Was thinking I could have the generator in the rear tack with vented access door. A dealer was all but ready to install. I am all for safety!! What do other parties do with their generators, as far as where you have the generator when in use - protection from the weather, etc. I have a EB3000 Honda

we have a "built in" generator and it is on our hay pod walkway. it is bolted down and has an exhaust system and a built in fuel tank in the mangers (don't have to lug fuel up to it). Although we also have a hay lift we could use if it wasn't built in.
i would never run the generator inside of the trailer whether it was ducted or not, that just spells disaster. if an emergency or accident happened and someone else loaded your horses but didn't know about the generator in the rear tack running (or recently running) and there were fumes inside it could cause injury or death.
