Need some thoughts on the best places to ride in Tennessee. Planning a trip for next year coming from Missouri. Would like to be closer to the Smokey Mountain area, but others thoughts may change my mind on that. Thanks

Without a doubt you have to ride the Big South Fork. probably the top place to ride east of the Mississippi. Smokeys are great dont get me wrong but lots of steep verticles and tight rocky trails. BSF has a little of everything. the place is so big you can stay 2-3 days at one camp then try 2-3 days at another, but most campgrounds here will have a taxi trailer and drop you off anywhere and pick you up or you can just ride back to camp. BSF is two hours from Knoxville to give you a perspective on distance from smokeys

If you make it to the Smokey's you should go another 3 hours to Mount Rogers in southwest Va. I ride there all the time. It is my fix when I can't ride in Colorado.

We usually do a week to 12 day trip out to Colorado, South Dakota or Nebraska every year and are wanting to go a different direction (east instead of west) Tricky trails do not bother us. we like to have some easy rides and dont mind a few challenging rides. VA is also on our hit list, but thinking we would like to take in Nashville, Pigeon Forge, Gaitlinburg because the couple traveling with us wont be able to ride as much as we do. Big South Fork is one of the places on my possibility list. Was wanting good and bad on it. Also looking at Orchard Cove if anyone has stayed there. We cant do primitive this trip because of the couple traveling with us. Thanks everybody i appreciate all the help.

Have ridden the Smoky Mts. and stayed at Orchard Cove. Probably the best stalls and campground but must ride up same 1 mile Rd. to get to trails. They do have some trailers you can use there to access more trailheads. Camp hosts are great people also. I second the review about Big Southfork. Have over 200 miles of horse trails and I have stayed at about all the different camps. Great river trails, plenty of rock formations and can ride down there most of the time even after some pretty heavy rain. Riding for every level of experience. Their trails are marked really well. Each campground has their own map but he Big South Fork Map is a must as it will also have all the trailheads on it. Good Luck!!

We do a week in Waynesboro. At Buffalo River. All your food and entertainment plus camping for under$300.The guides are great. The trails are very scenic and all the people are nice.We have NEVER had a bad time there.I have been 3 times. My BFF had been 7 times. We love it.
