Well, got a family campout under the belt. It was nice to see my husband back up on a horse after being off for soooo many years......before I go into that story and pics, look what we came home to.......

The rancher on the other side of us found her face down in our pond while we were gone. He gave her a shot of Micotil and I believe that's the only reason she is still here with us. I watched her and her mother before we left for the mountains and she was nursing fine. The rancher was looking for his cow when he spotted her. He rode and found mother and mom isn't giving out milk anymore. So my backyard now includes, 1 Aussie puppy, 1 blonde 4 year old son, and a 2 week old heifer calf........................

Cody watching poppa trying to figure out why in the heck we are using such a big bottle......

Husband giving her a feeding........

Too bad your son is only 4 yrs old - he is already well on his way to having a great show calf project.  I think 4-H should allow kids younger than 10 to do the calf projects cause this one would be great!  Good Luck - I've done the bottle thing with calves before and what's cute now can be tiring after awhile.

They have mini members 4-H out here in Cali (under 8 years.), but I think the age limit for the beef project is 8 years old.  OH, trust me, yes they can become a big pain in the rump, especially when they do start to take the bottle and everytime you flush the toilet in the house they start screaming to be fed! LOL!!!!! This is only our 2nd calf in a long time, we've had to bottle feed.

Not only did we run into this, but up camping I was walking the road with my son and my husbands mare and I hear someone hollar my name, then my screen name "cowpony". I peered through this camp and said yes, you must read my website and the gentleman goes, "I'm Wild Bill", Wholy Cow! It was nice to put a face with someone we chat with on the board! We invited "wild bill" over to our camp for yard bird, beans, and potato salad. He even brought his pup over to keep "Miss Du" company. What a real nice man, and he rides a beautiful arabian mare. Good company and great talk at dinner with him, husband, and myself! Oh and of course how can he forget Cody, now I bet he's wondering  how I can get time on the computer, LOL!!!!!! I don't know Wild Bill, but you met my family first hand, I'm a busy lady!!!!! LOL!!!!!!!!

Thanks for coming over to our camp for dinner, hope I run into you again up there soon! Hey, how was the Jenkins Canyon trail, did you check out the fire they had over the ridge....?
