I used the site http://www.horsetrip.com/  when we moved from Virginia to Oklahoma last fall.  We stopped in Tennesee and Arkansas and I was very happy with both of the places our horses stayed at.

In addion to the above mentioned websites.

I have frequently stayed in county and state fairgrounds. Here is Utah, Wyoming and Colorado they are usually $10 a stall per night. Most have wash racks where you can rinse your horse off. They also have arenas, where often you can turn your horse out to run and stretch a little before putting them in the stall.

There is more public access to public fairgrounds than at private facilities, so you probably will have to be more careful about things being stolen.

Buy the book, US Stabling Guide 800-829-0715 or http://www.usstablingguide.com/ - well worth the money!  TSC & some other stores also carry it.
