We are considering going to Loretta Lynn's horse camp next spring. I would like to know what the camp is like and what the trails are like. How many miles of trails, condition of trails etc. etc. Thanks, Ruth

We rode there last weekend for the first time.  The campsites are pretty close to each other with water and electric at each site.  They have metal panels there to keep the horses in for free.  These are on a first come first serve basis.  The stall barn was nice, but a little high at $10 a stall.  The trails are mostly single file type.  There is a considerable amount of rock there and you go up and down hills the majority of the time.  If you have young kids with you, it is nice to have the pool and the creek to entertain them.  I would go back again.  Just make sure you have shoes on your horses.

At the  new part they have water and ele at every site.  The old part there were about 500 extension cords  on each pole.  I was told that the corral panels were $ for the week, I forget what she said because they were all taken.  The new barn was nice, but a LONG way from the new sites, where i was.

I was first by the river , but the electric was messed  up according to my tester that I carry, so the next am I moved to the new sites.

Also a lot of dust.  The food was not as good as it was in 2004, when I was there last.

I did not go for an organized ride.  While we were there during the middle of the week  The panels were free to use. There were only about 15 trailers in there that weekend so the place was pretty vacant due to the heat.

Would you say the trails are well marked and mapped?

The trails are color coded in dots.  The map I saw told you where to head out and how long it would take in hours.  Of course my question was whether that was on a gaited or non gaited horse.  There were a few places that I scratched me head when we would come to a cross roads.  There is a trail boss that stays there that will be glad to take you out if you want to.  Overall, I have seen worse trail maps.
