I just bought an old 2H straight load bumper Merhow trailer. Trying to find out roughly how old it is. Any ideas? I don't have a title but was told that I can take the bill of sale to get plates. Anybody know if this is true?

Don't know the laws there but in most states you need a title to register the trailer. Good luck with the trailer..I bought a 87' verylite brand new and just sold it last yr...still very useable and safe.

It is/was in TX. My dad gave me an old WW (197something) about 8 yrs ago and couldn't find the title. The person at the DMV had to "inspect" the trailer and get the VIN and liscence plate numbers and I had to have a bill of sale.

I just sold my older Merhow- on the tounge there was a date stamped into the steel that corresponded to the year built- it was on the frame near the hitch area. You wouldn't notice it at first, need to really look. Also, the inside of the door had a sticker with all kinds of info. Finally, the VIN number idea was an excellent one!
