I am looking at a sundowner trailer that does not currently have a rear tack. It has a rack up in the dressing room. I was told that all the braces are there, I would need the pole, I think and a wall. I don't care if I have a permanent wall, I would rather have the removable. I was also told that coming from Sudnaowner that would be $1000 - has anyone "built" something that would work or where can I go to get something that isn't going to be that expensive???? THANKS for your help. I know my husband won't consider this trailer until we know our options on the rear tack thing - AND WITHOUT spending $1000 more!!! THANKS again!

The rear tack in my trailer is removable and good thing as I've trailered 2 horses that refused to back up. It's a 2H and we had to remove the rear tack so we could turn them around.
There are large pins that you just pull out all along the length of it and it just folds up nicely against the wall. There is also a stablizing bolt that goes into the floor that you pull out. It came with the trailer. Check local trailer repair places, take digital pictures, and I would imagine someone could build one for you.

If you are buying from the dealer work the rear tack into the offer. Make them find/do it for you. Otherwise no deal. I'd say most dealers would find a way if the bracing etc is there.

I built one out of 2x4's. It' not removable, but does the job quiet well. If the picture attatches, you can see it. It was only half done when I took the picture, I put the wall on later.

Your price seems more than reasonable from the dealer. Unfortunately it is more than you think to build with all the little hinges and everything to make it work correctly.
