Does anyone have Oxi X made by streakmaster on their horse trailer as an oxidation preventer? Pros/cons? considering applying to trailer would like some input first.

I am glad you brought up this thread. I looked at Streakmaster in case I have to clean my paint myself and saw this. I thought I might ask my trailer dealer to put it on my trailer next time I have it in for service.
If it works as well as the testimonials, then YAHOO!!!! Be nice to seal up that aluminum floor.

I have a 2012 Sundowner, bought it used. It has minor pitting on one stall floor. I purchased the Streak Master Aluminum Brightener, and Oxix. Washed the floor with the Brightener, let it dry, then applied 3 coats of Oxix. Just checked under the mats, the white powder rust is back. Did all this last spring when I first got the trailer. My horses have not peed in the trailer, our trips are short to trail heads in the area.I have both cushion mats, and the heavy rubber mats in my trailer. It is a pain to pull them out, but will do so again this week and perhaps use a Muratic acid/water wash first. Then reapply the Oxix.Anyone else have any better luck? It does worry me that the powder and slight rust colored spots are back. I know I am doing something wrong, or the product does not work on urine induced rust.Am a new poster, have lurked for some time. Love all the wonderful information here.!!

Aluminum naturally produces a micro coating of an oxide when it is exposed to air. This is what naturally protects the aluminum from corrosion. When the AL is polished, acid washed, or chemically treated, this coating is removed. After a while it will again appear as a duller whitish form. It will not stay bright or polished, with out a coating protecting the surface from air. You may have better luck with the various two part hot applied and single part cold applied bed liner materials, after the metal has been muriatic cleaned and etched. This application will almost eliminate the need for frequent pulling of the mats.

Im putting it on the outside of the trailer not the floors, i have solid rumber floors so i don't have mats. Based on what ive read about the Oxi X its supposed to keep it looking new. thats why i was hoping someone else has tried this.

My reply was to the Sundowner owner about the flooring. There are many marine cleaner/coatings that are available for aluminum construction protection. They do well in the more rigorous marine environment. Here's one: http://www.jamestowndistributors.com/userportal/show_product.do?pid...
