The 50/50 doors on a trailer, does a 60/40 door make that much difference when loading a fat horse saddled?? Or would a person just be betterr off with one big door. Thanks for all opinions.

I would recommend that you help that horse lose wgt. Godot diet and sensible conditioning program. And that you saddle the horse when you get to your destination. I bet the horse would appreciate that. BTW...my trailer has 50/50 doors and I like that. I always load naked horses into my trailer. Good luck~!

Well, the 60/40 is a must if it has a rear tack. If not, the 50/50 is fine. I don't like the full swing door as you have to prop it open half the time!

I have had both. 50/50 & 60/40. I was trapped by a horse in the 50/50 trailer and almost stomped to death. I had no room to escape but I sold that trailer and got one with 60/40 doors and I feel very comfortable going in to unload my horse now. Even if she trys to come out too fast I have enough room to get out of the way. Both trailers had rear tack.
I personally don't like the full door because it is a hassle to control while loading the horse. JMO
