Heading out to Shawnee Forest this weekend.(Praying we won't be rained out) We found Hayse Canyon to be the best Campground in the Eddyville area. Anyone been recently to the area? How about up to Owls Bluff? How are the trails on the Lusk Creek side. Any information or experiences more than welcomed! Thanks

We just got back last Saturday from a week of riding-and staying at Hayes

We were ok till Wednesday and then for a couple of days past that --the Lusk Creek side was closed off due to the rain-- I would think they would be open now-

I sent you a PM also

Be a good idea to avoid Owl Bluff. The trail from Lusk Creek up to the Bluff is loaded with bees. Even last week, as cold and wet as it was, several groups got into bees up there.

We rode both, to the east and to the west, last week, from Hayes Canyon, and didn't get into the bees. But we avoided the Owl Bluff trail.

If uou want to go up to Owl Bluff come in from the east side then return the same way.

The Lusk Creek Wildnerness is only closed when there is over and inch of rain in a 24 hour period, then it is only closed for 24 hours after the rain. Check with Ben or Patty to see if it is closed. You can still ride the east side, but not in the Lusk Creek Wilderness. They now have a lot of new trails on the west side that are good in wet weather. You'll have plenty of riding, rain or shine.

Thank you so much for the heads up on the bee's. If weather permits we will certainly go up to owls bluff from the east. Wish us luck on the weather next week!

So how did the trip go? I'm hoping to possibly slip down for a first time visit in a week or so and I'm curious to hear how the trails / campgrounds are. Recommended trails, views, campgrounds, etc. Thanks.
