I was using my Flojet water pump and everything was working fine. Suddenly things became quiet and I had no water flow; the pump had stopped.

I have 12v power to it, so the manual off on switch, fuse and electrical circuit are good. The pump was cool to the touch and not overheated. It had been run about two minutes before it quit.

Is this a repairable item or is it a replace unit only? I can't find any trouble shooting threads, or internet maintenance sources. The pump we have is a Flojet 4306-500 series, "Quiet Quad".

I would greatly appreciate any help in determining what has failed. Thanks in advance.

Gard

Just from my own experiences with a shallow well pump for the house,  you may want to check on the presure gauge.  The way you said the pump went quiet reminds me of our preasure switch that gets stuck sometimes.  We have to tap the side of it with a screw driver and it is good for a couple months.

Just grabbed my paper work.

1)Check to see if the strainer is clogged.
2)An airpocket in the hotwater tank?
3)Check for vacuum leak.
4)Check pump housing for loos drive assy screws
5) Check outlet for clog also.
Good Luck!

Ops! I assumed it was running and you were not getting water. But I read again and you say "stopped" From the pamphlet; 1) Check Fuse, Circut Breaker, Main Switch, and ground connections. 2) Is motor hot? Thermal breaker may have triggered. It should reset when cool. 3) Is voltage present at the switch? Bypass the presure switch. 4) Does it operate at all? Thats all I got from the TS section of my Paper work.

Thanks Jim for your help. The problem turned out to be a bad butt splice when the pump was originally installed. Many of the stranded wires were cut when the insulation was removed, and the splice was holding more insulation than wiring. The wiring burnt inside the splice, which interrupted the current flow. Fortunately it happened at home, and not at a show.

Thanks again for your assistance.
