Hi, I am considering the purchase of a LQ trailer with a King Dome satellite, however, I am not familiar with what more I must do to watch satellite TV. I currently have Direct TV service in my home with an additional reciever. Could I use the same reciever with my existing subscription on the LQ trailer? If not what must I do to utilize the existing King Dome?

Thanks,

Jim

Someone help me on this... but I think you could use through your existing subscription, you would need to mount your receiver to face the southwest? or whatever direction they tell you to face.  you can get a device to help you position the receiver in the correct position.  We used our receiver while tailgating for football games and it worked great.

I will talk to my LQ guy and find out the best way to use satellite on the trailer.

The King Dome is automatic on locating signal.

You will need to call Directv and add that reciever as an additional reciever on your current subscription. I think it is 5.95 though for an add'l reciever on mine.

We just take the receiver out of our house and put it in the trailer when we go camping. Of course you can always get an extra receiver if you don't want to go to the trouble of doing that, but why pay for an extra receiver? We aren't using it at home anyway while we are gone. But if you have others that are at home while you are gone still watching tv then you may want to get the extra receiver.

Thanks, I was hoping it would be that easy. I have two recievers in my house and I almost never use the one upstairs.

It's the dish that needs to be facing the right direction.  The reciever is the box that sits on the tv and changes the channels.  When we have moved over the years we just set everything else up ourselves and used it.  It doesn't matter to the dish or reciever where you are as long as the dish is picking up the signal.  They just need your address so they know where to send the bill.
