I live in Northern California and like to horse camp at Skillman's Flat or PT. Reyes. Lake Oroville is too hot at this point. Any other places that you know of??

I am looking to go sometime at the end of this month-I try to go at least once a month for 3-4 days. I am single ,female, 34 years young and looking for  camping partners to meet at the site with and or share a ride and fuel with. i have the truck and trailer if you can help with 50% of the fuel cost.

I usually go during the week- say like Mon-Thursday. This way I don't have to fight traffic, always get the best camping site, also fuel prices are usually lower during the week.

Anyways- Must have horse that trailers nicely and is generally good mannered while camping.

I have a 13 yr gelding that has a big motor so I tend to do longer rides.

Ah nuts. That sounds great but I live too far away. I have gone as far as Bend, OR for endurace rides, but not California. Hope you find a group to go with - be really careful who you agree to meet there...you never know. There are lots of endurance riders that like horse camping. Want me to try to put feelers out to the group in Oregon I ride with and ask if they know anybody who'd be interested?

Sure that would be great- I figured most people on this site would be safe. I usually go by myself -but the horse doesn't like to be alone! He loves the whole camping experience but when he realizes he is all alone, well- u can just tell he isn't having as much fun.

What's the fire danger in your area?  The Tevis Ride has been cancelled due to extreme fire danger - Lake Tahoe to Auburn, CA

Oh wow- didn't know Tevis had been canceled. The air quality here is not good at all where I live. Thought it was coming from the north and the south, not the Auburn area. (Haven't watched the news in the last couple days ) I guess it's going to be hard to try and figure out where to go camping!
