OK so I got a Reese Trunion style WD hitch w/ sway control (whoo-hoo!), however the longest drop Reese sells is 6". Wish I would have known that before I bought this setup... Are any of the other WD shanks out there compatible with the Reese setup? Putnam sells a ton of longer shanks (for the WC hitch I was using I need an 8" drop draw bar for my truck). I would hate to spend $100 on the Reese 6" drop and have it not be enough... Are the Draw-tite shanks work with a Reese setup?
We FINALLY bought our new trailer, picking it up this weekend. Got a good deal on an 05 Featherlight that was new. Whoo-hoo!

I think Reese and Drawtite are now the same company and the same product.
I havn't confirmed this, but I'm fairly sure that the lighter duty bars are;
a) made of hollow steel tube, b) have smaller bolt holes, c) have the bolt holes on a different spacing. So you can't even put a light duty head on a heavy duty bar.

Right, Reg. Reese and Drawtite are both now owned by Cequent Towing Products, a conglomerate that also owns another big hitch company (I think Hidden Hitch, not sure), plus Fulton, Bulldog (Hammerblow), and several other trailer parts manufacturers. I hate it when that happens.
The Reese and the Drawtite drawbars have different spaced holes and are not interchangeable. Hopefully they will soon remedy that.

Forgot to add: I can't speak for Reese, but the Drawtite drawbars and torsion trunnion bars are solid steel, not hollow. I think the Reese follows suit. The only difference between the Drawtite 600#, 800#, and 1200# tongue weight rated kits are the trunnion bars, whick LOOK the same but obviously aren't. All three kits cost the same, so we choose to stock the heaviest rated kit

Please call Weaver Distributing at 1-800-932-8373. I think they have a solid shank that will work and has a 8" drop for under $100. You should probably measure your hole spacing ( distance from center of one hole to the center of the next hole ) usually they are either like 1" or 1 1/4" something like that. Just let the guys at Weaver know your hole spacing and the desired drop and they probably will be able to help. Tell them that Marc from Quick Hitch sent you. Thanks Marc.
