I'm looking at steel stock trailers; will be just hauling one large pony (13 hands, 750 lbs) and possibly his mini buddy (10 hands, 350 lbs.).  My truck is an 89 Ford F150, in good shape, V8 engine and new automatic transmission.  We will not be going long distances.  The 12 foot sounds kind of like overkill, but some of the brands I'm looking at (Corn Pro, Titan) don't make them any smaller.  Adam, WW, and CM do make 10 footers, although the Adam only has brakes on one axle.   Any advice will be much appreciated--thanks in advance!!

I'd go for the 12 foot. I had a 10 footer 2H Bumper pull, and the thing was a real pain to back...would jackknife pretty easily because it was so short. At some point, you'll want the extra space anyway.

Resale would probably be better on the standard 12' length also.

Also, don't overlook the width factor on the purchase. That's as important to me as the length.

Thanks for the answers.....12 foot sounds like the way to go....As far as width, I'm thinking 6 feet rather than 5.

I got a seven foot tall, thirteen foot long and six and one half foot wide stock that has a swinging cut gate at the three foot mark. You can make a little tack room up front and it's got an excape door to the outside up there also. Works super good with a mare and baby. Have had two big walking horse mares and one Icelandic in there a the same time. 1001 uses, hauling hay, feed, fertilizer, fire wood, timber, Exmark mower, Farmall Super-A etc. The GVW on this trailer is 7000# with brakes on both axles and yes it's a Circle M Supreme.  Check with LB's in Harmony N.C., that's where I got this one.
