Does anybody know where wrecked horse trailers get taken? Do you think they're hauled to an auto wrecking yard? I am asking because it seems like a viable place to look for replacement parts, IF, those parts were not compromised in an accident. For example, windows, extra pads, corner feeders, possibly dividers, mats, etc. *

I stopped at a place in Ellensburg once and they had a few wrecks there. All I know about the place is it's on the west side of the interstate

Hey - I was just in Ellensburg last weekend checking out the ranch where we get our hay. I'll ask around when I go back over there. Was the place with the wrecked trailers a trailer dealer right off the freeway? I think Luft Trailers is right off I-90 there in Ellensburg.

Speaking of wrecked trailers, I so very narrowly missed becoming a statistic this evening. I was driving home with my horse in my 2 horse gooseneck. Going about 55 in a 60 mph zone, a driver passed me in the left (fast lane) which was okay, but then cut right back in front of me. Ahead about 1/2 mile was a stop light which I was paying attention to because although it stays green a long time, it does turn red every 5 minutes or so. Now, because the driver kept his right blinker on, I considered that this idiot was going to turn at the light, making me slow down considerably to keep a safe distance. Okay, I can deal with that. People are inconsiderate and you live with it. What I did not anticipate is that the car in the left lane next to me, was also going to speed by, cut in BETWEEN me and the first car that cut over in front of me, and also turn. Without warning he jerked over and hit his brakes to turn. Man I hit the horn, hit my brakes (thank god for good trailer brakes) and cannot believe I did not hit the back of that second car as it turned the corner practically on 2 wheels. The driver's were both teenagers, and probably racing or something. I was almost standing up in my seat at the end, and could not see his bumper or his tail lights... only the top of his trunk. I must have missed clipping that car by inches. I could hardly keep it together the rest of the drive home... I was also worried that the horse would be upset, but he was fine when I got home. I find this kind of happens more during the week than on weekends for some reason (very bad drivers or inconsiderate drivers). I sometimes wish I had a Semi-truck horn :)))

People just don't realize trucks pulling trailers can't stop on a dime. "You can't fix stupid!"
