I just replaced my brake controller and now the resume on my cruise control isn't working. It was working on the way to the shop but not on the way home. Could this be related or just coinsedinence?
There was already a controller there that had a plug and plugged into the truck but the new one didn't have the plug and they were supposed to splice into the old controller wiring and not the truck wiring. I don't see how it could be related, but since they blew the fuse for the controller while installing it.... I was just wondering what y'all thought.

I had a similiar problem with my truck after having the brake controller installed. I made the mistake of having the local RV person here in town install mine. Won't go to anyone else again but a horsetrailer shop for future work. Mine was wired wrong and every time I turned on the blinkers or the brights(headlights) the whole truck would short out! Scarry!!!

It is possible, even likey given that it was working just before they worked on it. BTW, what truck & what controller ?

Just a thought, but check the fuse for your cruise control. This happened once with our '04 Dmax and the cruise wouldn't work, turned out it was a blown fuse. However, it could entirely be a different problem that has to do with the brake controller's wiring. One more PITA!

It is a 2002 dodge 2500. I looked for a blown fuse, but didn't see one and didn't see one labeled for the cruise control. The cruise works, just not the resume button.
It is a Hayes energiseIII

Been in the automotive business for 30 yr. Can't see any logical way the controller or wiring could interfere with the cruise "resume". The brake light switch does work the controller & it does act to turn the cruise off when the brake pedal is pushed. But since the cruise is working. . . it is probably connected with the cruise switch.
