My western pleasure gelding just came down with EPM. Have you guys used Relaunch? It's a bit cheaper than Marquis and we are starting the treatment next week.

I wish I could answer your question....but I can't. I hope your horse recovers ok. About 10 years ago I had a horse with EPM. These new drugs were not available at the time but he did recover with the older regimen and has gone on to lead a happy life. I wish you luck as it's a tough road sometimes.

We have a paint gelding who came down with EPM about nine years ago in Kansas... we took him to K-state vet hospital and had a spinal tap done. They put him on a pudding like compounded drug from Frank's Pharmacy (in Ocala,Fla) for about nine months. He has recovered 98% and has been great ever since... I know they have better drugs or treatments now. Good luck to you.

My friend's horse underwent every treatment possible. She's only halfway ok some days. If the horse is worth trying to treat, go for it. My friend's horse is one in a million, and worth every penny of trying to keep her happy and functional. However, it really doesn't look like she will be able to do much more than the occasional slow trail ride, but anyhow, weigh your options. Cost of treatment, value of the horse, what if there is no real result with treatment...etc.
I'd try. At least if it doesn't work you can say you did all you could.
