I've got an interesting question:I'd like to keep the trailer stored the next few weeks before I go on 'one more trip', so don't want to winterize just yet. I'm in southern ohio, where it's now in the low 40's upper 30's overnight. I put in an electric space heater, but noticed that the propane heater still kicks in below 45 degrees in the trailer, chewing up my propane. There is a turn off switch on the thermostat, but it does not seem to turn anything off. Of course, I have the thermostat set to the lowest setting. So I turned off the propane at the tanks.I noticed the dometic refrigerator isn't functioning on electric, when I turn off the propane at the tanks. I confirmed the electric is on to the refrig. with a voltage meter, yet it doesn't want to run when the propane is turned off. I've got the dometic model that automatically switches from electric to gas when there is no electric. For now, I turned up the space heater, and turned the propane back on at the tanks. The refrigerator now seems to be running fine (on electric). Is this normal or should I investigate further?Confused in Dayton,Tom

Doesn't sound right to me.  Are you sure your fridge is set to "auto" ??  Electric is suppose to override LP

Yes, I confirmed the auto setting. I was wondering if something is wrong with the auto function...

Something doesn't sound right. Does it start beeping if you cut off the gas? And does it show that it is running on gas or electric when it is running? (you should be able to just push the mode button and it will flash what it's currently using)

Get the wiring checked out. Certain Dometic year models were recalled. I just bought a trailer this past summer with on that did the same thing and it caught itself on fire and totalled the trailer. The dealership didn't take the time to deal with the recall issue. Your's might be fine but just in case get it checked out. Good Luck!

Thanks for all the help! Yes, I had the recall work done already. This model has a switch for running on gas only, or auto. When I turn the gas off and there is no pressure in the line, the 'check' light comes on and it doesn't switch to electric. When the gas is on, the electric runs fine. I'll take it to the dealer for a check up! I suspect this might be a design flaw on this model...
