Hi: I'm looking at 2 trailers - a 14ft Chaparral 2H w/ Dressing room and a 11 ft Valley 2H w/ no dressing room.

I'm being told the Chaparral weighs 1600 empty and the Valley 2180 empty. How can the Chaparral weigh so much less when it is longer and has a dressing room?

Does anyone have any experience with these brands? I'll be buying online so I need to rely on someone who has seen them.

Thanks

Christine

Thanks Paul. Unfortunately if anything goes wrong there is not a Chaparral dealer close by. However there is a trailer dealer who will work on other models, etc.

The wife and I had a 2001 Chaparral 3 horse slant with dressing room, bumper pull. Bought it slightly used and had it until this past May when we upgraded to a 4 horse gooseneck. I can't say enough about how well it held up in the 6 years she pulled it all over the place. It sat outside 24/7 and had minimal rust. It pulled smooth and our horses loaded easy, as it was not a large step up. Only two complaints: Only 6 ft tall and only one swing open door, sometimes got caught in the wind and you needed two people to load, one to hold the door, no door latch. Would not hesitate to purchase another if the need arose.

Hello CFrank3. You will need to evaluate these trailers via pix and more written detail than given in your post to decide the best for you. Chaparral does not make an aluminumn trailer so the weight diff can not be attributed to that. You wont really know what it weighs until you take it to the scale.

I bought a Chaparral 3H slant GN in 2004 and its been great. A Good buy for the money IMHO.
