I bought a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 2WD 5.9L Auto about 9 months ago and it is turning out to be a piece of junk. I bought it from a faily reputable dealer, did all of the carfax and other background checks on it, but apparently made the big mistake of not taking it to an independent mechanic prior to purchasing it. Shortly aftering buying it, I had one problem after another with the steering. It took the original dealership 6 trys to fix it. After a few months I started having more steering problems, took it to a different dealership and they tried something else and it still isn't right. I also started having problems with a leaking intake gasket and the second dealership "fixed" that and within a week it appears to be leaking again. Do I just have bad luck, do I have "sucker" written all over my face or is a 2001 Ram 1500 5.9 just a piece of junk that no one can fix??????

I know of dealerships that falsify Carfax reports...you can't trust them unless they warranty it!

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!...I did get a "limited" warranty on it from the dealership I purchased it from.......... After 6 trys, they kinda, sorta fixed it, but the warranty on warranty repair is now up. THe intake problem didn't surface until after my initial warranty was up. THe main thing is, no one seems to be able to fix it.

Sounds like your truck needs a new home.

You can force the dealership to buy the truck back if they couldn't fix a problem that caused a deadly situation but yours just sounds annoying.

When you sell, but in BOLD on the sales recipt, AS IS NO WARRANTY.

Gee

I'm really sorry you are having these problems. I have been really happy with my Dodge, and the only complaint is with the overhead light. It pulls nicely, is easy to drive, and now has over 140,000 miles on it. It is not the most economical vehicle i own, but I realize it also used to pull a trailer, and is a truck after all. It has been really solid, and a good worker.

( not like the Chevy I had....boy that was a poor choice!)

Steve
