I purchased a 2007 2 horse straight load Featherlite horse trailer, and discovered that the ramp is extremely heavy to lift. Is it supposed to be this way?

Not particularly- but the springs are 15 years old. And sometimes the hinges can bind with the center pin. Unfortunately, none of those are particularly easy to correct. You might try a really good cleaning of the hinge area to make sure no crud is in there. And then a penetrating oil on the shaft where it goes through the hinge ferrules.

You can re-work the springs or spring helpers.... we just did on our older weekender straight load we use for short hauls... be sure everything is in workable shape, try to adjust the springs and lube it up.. I will try to post pics...
