We are looking at going to Deam Lake S.R.A. for a 3 day camping and trail riding trip. Was wondering if some of you that have been there can recommend which area of the campground to reserve. I have a large 4 horse trailer (40' Overall plus truck). Didn't know if access would be a problem. There could be about 5-6 trailers in the group, but the rest are smaller (3 or 4 horse and shorter LQ's). Are their stalls available for those that don't want to use the hitching posts at night or are the stalls strictly for the cabins and the NH sites?

If you look up the DNR Indiana site and press the make camping reservations, it will take you to the info you will need. I just made some reservations online at Deam Lake. The website is very informative.

Any one can reserve the stalls.
On the size of your trailer-- I wouldn't get back in any of the "loops" - especially the first ones in camp-- I think it would be hard for you to get around the curve-- you might look at the ones more down by the lake - - stalls are close by back there also.
Also-- on the website they have the length of the site which should help you.
If you go- post and I'll tell you my favorite trails up there also-- they are our home trails

The following is copied from the FAQ section of the Deam Lake website.
B.) Horse Campground
Only campers with horses may camp in
the horse campground.
There are two
different kinds of sites in this campground,
“regular” sites and “lake-side” (NH) sites. Each
“regular” site comes equipped with a hitching
rail. Stalls are for use by campers in the “lakeside”
sites ONLY. Stalls cannot be purchased if
you are on a “regular” site.
“Lake-Side” sites in the horse campground
come with 2 stalls included in the price, as
horses ARE NOT allowed on the actual site. If
you need more than 2 stalls, you must
purchase an additional site.
Of course, what the "official" rules state and what the DNR staff will allow are sometimes different.
If you look at the campground map, there are regular sites just across the driveway from lakeside/non-horse sites. If you got a couple of sites on each side of the driveway, some of you could have stalls and your group would still be close together. Just a suggestion.

Site C-8 is extra long, level, close to the lake and bath house and not too far from the barn. There are 2 other regular sites next to it that are level and a couple non-horse sites across the driveway. That seems to be one of the most popular sites. It books up EARLY!
Only drawback is there is not a lot of shade down by the lake. B section is quite shady.
