I am having hard time finding an extended cab with 8' box in 3/4 ton truck under $20,000 How many of yous guys use short boxes?  I hear stories about breaking out back windows, are short boxes all that bad?

I pull with a short bed quad cab with no issues. I had more problems with being able to level the trailer due to the bed rail height, so we built an aluminum flat bed. I did make sure I bought a tapered nose trailer just on the safe side, but I still can pull all the farm goosenecks with no issues.

If you are pulling with a short box PU, make sure you can get the GN hitch mount back far enough (maybe on a plate) so that you don't crunch your truck... We use longbeds.

We have used a tapered front GN trailer with our shortbed, and the big front LQ is pulled by a long flatbed...

My 2000 and 2003 trucks were both CrewCab Short beds.  They worked fine with my Gooseneck.  When Ford modified the suspension in 2005 and the new long beds turned as tight a radius as the previous Short beds, I decided I could use the extra space and bought a long bed and never have regreted the room for an bale or two of hay.

If you are towing average trailers widths, You should have no problems.  If you get an 8' wide trailer especially with out a tapered nose, then you  will need to worry about how tight you jack knife the trailer.
