OK, maybe this is normal, but the sparks startled me. I was trying to thread the wires thru the new plug and when I think Black & White touch, it sparks...should I just shove it thru?...or will I blow something up?! Sorry :( changing light bulbs makes me nervous...I'm just trying to get this done...am having a hard time finding help before a ride.

Disconnect the battery, or wrap some tape on the wires.  Sparks are not 'normal' or good.

You might want to check the recharge line fuse which may have been blown when you had the "sparks." That's usually one of the fuses up under the hood in the distribution panel.

Excellent advice the black and white wires are normally the +12(black) and ground(white)...sparks would probably take out the fuse
