Is there a ' standard" cost per mile for people to haul a horse trailer for you? I am needing to get one from Texas to somewhere in Washington or as close to that as i can get. Does anyone have any recommendations of people they have used? Thanks in advance

In October we had a trailer transported from Pennsylvania to Texas. We went through the dealership but found out we could of gotten it cheaper by contacting the shipper ourselves and making the arrangements. I have the shippers name and number at home. He was very very reliable and had it here ahead of the quoted schedule. I wont say what we paid since I am sure the dealership took a cut from that but will send the name/number we used for you to get a quote. There are several trailer shipping companies advertised from the Oklahoma area since so many trailers are built there. Might try some of them also.

Don't know that there is, a standard per mile fee. It's been discussed here before, from $1.00 a mile to "wouldn't haul other folk's horses for any amount of money". Local folks around here charge anywhere from $1.50 to $2.00 per mile to haul to a day show!!! Got to figure the driver has to run back and forth from home or, he is sitting and waiting all day for the show to be over.

You might try calling and getting a quote from several different companies... http://www.travelinghorse.com/Transport_Quote_Request.html

Get a quote from u-ship.com .  There are guys that are always looking for back hauls, etc. that will ship for you pretty reasonable.  A good average cost is $1.50 to $1.75 per loaded (one way mile).
